Psychedelic Sweets!

I found the idea for these colorful cakes on That Takes the Cake's blog. I LOVE colors, so making these were just way too much fun! I really wanted them to look like classic cupcakes that you'd see in a cartoon or something, so I added a huge dollop of icing and topped it all off with some rainbow jimmies and a cherry sour. These would be great for a 70's themed party, or if you just want some festive little birthday cakes! The client said that they were all very impressed. :)

Happy Birthday Charlie!

Our nephew, Charles, turned 13 last week! I wanted to do something fun, but not too kid-ish. Just a classic birthday cake. It was alot of fun to make, and the bottom detailing gave me a really great idea for my next birthday cake order (Which is coming up this friday!) Yay!

FLOUR means Cupcake...and sometimes Cake.

Wow! My first blog post! How exciting! Well, I should let you know that I mainly wanted to start up my own blog to post my confection creations as they are completed. I want people to have a point of reference whenever I tell them of my lastest endevour. In the past couple of months I've been realizing how awesome it is for me to bake. It's a creative outlet that is rewarding to my soul. Theraputic in it's own little way.

So, true to what this post is all about, here are a couple photos of cupcakes and cakes that I have created since December 2008. Hope you enjoy. :)

I created the flowers by cutting marshmellow diagonally and then dipping in pastel colored sugars. I wish I could say it was MY idea, but I have to give credit to the 2009 Duncan Hienze Calander. I made the HAPPY B-DAY! out of baby pink fondant. The pic below is the same concept.

I made these for a company's ranch meeting. The black fondant is of the company's logo (Walsh Ranch). I created the little boots out of fondant and free hand stitched the detail into each boot. J.S. stand for the ranch hand who looks over the land. (this meeting was set in his honor).I made the next two for my nephew Levi's 1st birthday! The theme of the party was elmo, so I made elmo accent cupcakes along with a giant elmo head. I think it turned out pretty cute, if I do say so myself. :)
